KFUMC Publications Procedure

At KFUMC, we want each event, announcement, report, article and every other publication to get the respect and attention it deserves. With that in mind, we have a process for you to follow when you would like to get something published.

Definitions

What is a publication?

A publication is any event, announcement, article, report, or thank you that needs to appear in some form before a target audience, be that a select group, our congregation, or the greater community.

What is a posting?

A posting is considered to be a flyer, poster, banner, or anything physically attached to the building. If you require a posting, please note that it must either be approved or designed by the Media & Graphic Coordinator.

It is our intent to publicize your event in all the areas we have available to us (Echoes Across the River, the bulletin, the e-newsletter, website, Contemporary Worship pre-service, etc.). However, it might not always be possible for your publication to appear in every place, so we do ask for your understanding.

KFUMC Publication Procedure

  1. Consult with your Staff Ministry Area Leader (see next tab) before submitting a publication request.
  2. Fill out the entire "Publication Request Form"
  3. Submit the form to the Media & Graphic Coordinator (MGC). This form may be emailed, filled out on the website, or turned in to the MGC’s office mailbox.
  4. Upon receiving a publication request, the MGC will confirm date, time, location, and setup details with the Office Manager and then begin publication. If there is any question as to the request, Staff Ministry Area Leaders (see next tab) will be consulted. All requests are due at noon the Tuesday before the week of publication. All request content, design, and distribution is subject to the discretion of the Communications Team (see next tab).
  5. Upon approval, event organizers/Staff Ministry Area Leaders with publication design needs should consult with the MGC.
    1. If a posting is required, it must be approved or designed by the MGC.

Late Submissions

If a request is received after noon on Tuesday, it will be considered an early submission for the following week. We feel it is in best interest to enforce a strict deadline both out of respect for the time of our staff, as well as to adhere to the highest quality of work for a submitted publication.

The only exceptions to the submission deadline are Sunday-dependent items and events.

Policies for Approval

The following is a list of policies to abide by to ensure an item has the greatest chance of publication:

  1. Only Church-sponsored ministries will be published
  2. Consult your Staff Ministry Area Leader prior to your submission
  3. Make requests clear and specific
  4. Fill out all fields on the "Publication Request Form" by noon the Tuesday before the week of publication
  5. Keep descriptions at less than 100 words
