The Chancel Choir and The Sanctuary Choir

The Chancel Choir in the Sanctuary
The Touring Choir in St. Peter's in the Vatican
|
The Chancel Choir rehearses on Wednesday beginning at 7:00 PM and sings for the 11:00 am Traditional Service in the Sanctuary. The Sanctuary Choir rehearses on Sunday morning at 8:00 am and sings for the 8:30 am Traditional Service. Music for the 9:45 am Traditional Service is provided by a smaller group of Sanctuary Choir members. A Touring Choir consisting of members of both the Chancel Choir and Sanctuary Choir in addition to members of the Saints Alive Choir has toured England, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy and most recently, Ireland. The Touring Choir has sung in St. Peter’s in the Vatican, St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Dublin, Westminster Cathedral in London, Salisbury Cathedral in Salisbury, Austria and other exciting venues. In April of 2008, members of the choir sang under the direction of John Rutter in Carnegie Hall for the American premier of the Rutter’s Te Deum. The adult choirs of the First United Methodist Church are a supportive group of singers whose goal is to minister through their music. While they are well traveled, they are not a performance group. They function as a “music family” intent on ministry through their music sung for the glory of God. |
