Angel Tree Prison Fellowship

Angel Tree Ministry is an organized program through the Texas State prison system in
which KFUMC participates each December, a few weeks prior to Christmas. The state
Angel Tree coordinator provides the church with the names of local children whose parent
is incarcerated in a state prison. Families are then contacted and based on children's ages,
appropriate gifts selected.   The date for the Angel Tree Christmas party for the
children is then also designated.

The Angel Tree party coordinator distributes the children's names to members of the congregation for purchasing two gifts for each child. These are gifts of clothing and a
"fun" item valued under $25.00 each. The Angel Tree committee organizes a Christmas Party complete with a decorated Christmas Tree, a pianist and song leader, story teller, refreshments, and a Santa Claus to help distribute the presents.

A Christmas Party is then held for the children and their families in KFUMC's Fellowship Hall
with Angel Tree committee members assisting in the event. The Christmas story teller
provides the children with the real meaning of Christmas.

In 2006, the Angel Tree program at KFUMC was expanded to include children and families
registered with the Salvation Army.

Please prayerfully consider helping with this program and call Dorothy Schmidt @ 896-8595
to participate on the Angel Tree Committee."
