The Prayer Ministry at KFUMC

The Prayer Ministry at KFUMC General

Christians are given the Biblical command to pray continually and for one another (1 Thessalonians 5:17 and Ephesians 6:18). We are also given the admonition for healing prayer (James 5:13-16). We urge you to participate in the Prayer Ministry at this church and to increase your own prayer ministry by joining in one of the groups in the Prayer Ministry at Kerrville First United Methodist Church.

Confidentiality

You do not need to provide details on why prayer is sought or needed; just the name and a general request for prayer. Specific information, if given, is not included in the request when it is distributed to the prayer chains.

How to make a prayer request
  • Fill out a Prayer Request Card
These are found in the pews of the sanctuary and chapel. Either drop them in the offering plate with the offering, in the prayer request box in the doorway, or drop off at the office. These will be given to the Prayer Warriors for their Tuesday gathering.
  • Call the Telephone Prayer Line
The number is (830) 257-0822. Just leave a message on the automated line. The prayer line facilitator will take your request and forward it through a call list.
  • Directly
You may make a prayer request directly to the church clergy or the office staff. The church office number is (830) 257-0800.
  • Email Your Request
Send your request in an email to kfumc@kfumc.org
  • Fill Out an Online Form
Click here to fill out an online form for your prayer request. The form will be emailed to our prayer request coordinator.

Remember the emphasis that Christ placed on prayer and His counsel to all in building their faith through prayer. Please carefully consider your personal preferences and join us in one of the groups of the KFUMC Prayer Ministry.

General Telephone Prayer Chain

This group passes requests for prayer through a call list. The requests are received from the church telephone Prayer Line and personal requests through the church office.

Contact: Contact the church office in person or call (830) 257-0800.
Email Chain Prayer Ministry

This is a group of people who receive prayer requests by email. It is a "blind" list meaning that only the church office has the identity of the members of the chain. Participants are able to conduct their prayer ministry at their own designated time.

Contact: Send an email to kfumc@kfumc.org and you will be added to the list. Your email address is protected and the chain is anonymous.
Church Staff Prayer Ministry

This is a continual prayer ministry of the Kerrville First United Methodist Church directed at very specific individual requests and general prayer requests at staff meetings.

Contact: Pastor Hornung or other church staff members at (830) 257-0800.
The Healing Prayer Ministry

A short healing prayer service is offered each Sunday in the library after the 11:00 o'clock service. Please come to the library at that time and someone will be there to pray with and for you. Upon request we will be happy to conduct a healing service at any other time during the week. For example, it may be in the hospital, in your home or in the chapel at the church. Please contact Anita Hornung at (830) 895-3557 to arrange for a service or call Pastor Hornung at (830) 257-0804.

Contact: Anita Hornung, (830) 895-3557.
Sunday School Prayer Ministry

This prayer ministry is conducted by individual Sunday School Classes and is usually limited to class members.

Contact: Contact your Sunday School class prayer coordinator.
The Prayer Warriors

This group meets every Tuesday morning in the Chapel and prays for requests received from the pew cards filled out during Sunday Services and from other requests received through the church office.

Contact: the church office in person or call (830) 257-0800.
